LaCie launches Internet Space 2 powered by HipServ 2.0
| Ottawa, Canada—November 25, 2009 – Today, Axentra is pleased to announce that LaCie has released its LaCie Internet Space 2 powered by HipServ. LaCie will initially release the Internet Space 2 in France and launch worldwide early 2010.
The LaCie Internet Space 2 offers consumers with a 1TB solution to store music, videos and photos. With the HipServ software included, users can centralize their precious content and stream it to various devices within the home like a TV, digital picture frame or an MP3 player. The same content can be easily shared with family and friends anytime. A wizard allows consumers to easily install the software to begin centralizing content for viewing and sharing. The software is based on a user friendly Flash web UI that makes it easier for user to manage and create albums for sharing. Some key highlights of HipServ 2.0: “We are pleased to have LaCie launch the Internet Space 2 based on HipServ 2.0” said Catherine Currie, Product Manager at Axentra. “LaCie had selected HipServ version 1.0 for the ED Mini and Internet Space 1 products, therefore it is exciting to see them move ahead with the leading GUI of HipServ 2.0 for the new Internet Space 2” Media players or gaming consoles compatible with UPnP/DLNA like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 allow users view their photos or videos directly on their TVs. You can also play your iTunes music collection via HipServ to your TV or MP3 players such as Roku. (Note: 1 TB of storage can hold about 300 000 pictures, 300,000 songs or 1400 movies. The calculation is based on a photo 3MB, 3MB of a song and a 700MB movie encoded in MPEG-4 or equivalent codec). |
