Axentra™ Unveils touch*mediacenter™ mini — The World’s Smallest Full Fledged Consumer Home Server Appliance
Axentra extends Marvell plug computing ecosystem with touch*mediacenter mini, a consumer friendly, low power yet high performance home server appliance for protecting, sharing and enjoying personal digital media.
OTTAWA, Canada, June 24, 2009 — Axentra Corporation, developer of the award-winning HipServ® software, today announced its latest home server appliance offering, the touch*mediacenter mini, featuring HipServ home server software and based on Marvell’s SheevaPlug platform.
HipServ’s rich internet application (RIA) provides a unique user experience that allows consumers to easily view and manage their photo, music or video libraries on PCs and Macs, gaming consoles such as the Sony PS3, and mobile devices. As a service oriented platform, HipServ provides users with the ability to use third party services including online backup and photo print, and allows user to easily integrate and use their content with popular online social networking and sharing sites like Facebook and Flickr. The powerful and tiny touch*mediacenter mini leverages existing USB memory sticks and USB drives of all sorts to provide consumers with the ability to store, enjoy and share their precious photos and other personal digital content from anywhere, anytime and from any connected digital device.

The Marvell Plug Computing platform enables high-performance, always on, always connected, and environmentally friendly computing readily available for developers and end-users. A Plug Computer is designed to draw so little power that it can be left on all of the time. Unlike other embedded devices in the home, it contains a GHz class processor to offer PC class performance. Plug Computing is constantly expanding, bringing users new devices, services, and value-added applications as well as delivering the most advanced avenues for network connectivity.

The Marvell SheevaPlug platform uses a Marvell Kirkwood processor based on an embedded 1.2GHz Sheeva™ CPU equipped with 512 Mbytes of FLASH and 256 Mbytes of DRAM. Connection to the home network is via Gigabit Ethernet. Peripherals such as direct attached storage can be connected using a USB 2.0 port. Multiple standard Linux 2.6 kernel distributions are supported on the SheevaPlug development
platform enabling rapid application development. The enclosure is designed to draw less than one tenth of the power of a typical PC being used as a home server.
