Axentra, GlobalSign Partner To Provide World-Class
Internet Security For HipServ Media Server Software
| SSL Technology to Debut as Key Security Element of Axentra’s New HipServ Advanced Security Subscription
SANDS EXPO CENTER, LAS VEGAS / BOOTH 71849 – January 7, 2008 – Axentra® Corporation today announced from the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show that it has licensed Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate technology from GlobalSign, one of the world’s leading public trust services companies, as part of the company’s new HipServ Advanced Security Subscription. The technology will allow users to transfer digital files including personal photos, videos, documents and more, with peace-of-mind that the material is protected from hacking or other attack. GlobalSign, a GMO Internet Inc. group company, is recognized around the world for trusted certificate-based security. GlobalSign SSL Certificates protect tens of thousands of credit card transactions, corporate file transfers, password and login entries, Web forms and other confidential or secure exchanges each day. As part of the HipServ Advanced Security Subscription, GlobalSign SSL technology adds a new level of trust to one of the industry’s leading applications for saving, storing, syncing and sharing digital media around the home and around the world, on a wide variety of platforms and devices. The HipServ Advanced Security Subscription will first be available to owners of the LaCie Ethernet Mini – Home Edition personal media server beginning at the end of Q1 of 2008 at a subscription price of $39.99/year. “GlobalSign SSL technology will allow the highest level of security when connecting to external devices or servers via the Internet,” said Niall O’Driscoll, vice president of marketing and product for Axentra Corporation. “As part of the HipServ Advanced Security Subscription, GlobalSign will give users confidence that their important personal files will be protected.” Once deployed through the Advanced Security Subscription, GlobalSign SSL will be invoked whenever the user or guest accesses a HipServ-powered device to transfer or backup files. The resulting certificate, exchanged with the remote source, digitally binds the two devices with a cryptographic key that cannot be compromised by intruders. The technology is totally automatic and requires no extra steps by the user. HipServ’s Advanced Security Subscription will be available through the Axentra e-store.
